![]() He's too deeply in bed with Horus to successfully double-cross him. Unfortunately, he's past the point-of-no-return now. He regrets it because of the traitors' irrevocably close ties to the Warp and sorcery. That hatred led to him rashly siding with Horus at the first opportunity, only to regret that decision later on (something that The Khan calls him out on in Scars/ Path of Heaven). Mortarion hates the Emperor for what he did on Barbarus and for his powers as a psyker. He made a decision out of spite with very little information, ultimately putting himself into a position he would have avoided at all costs had he had all the information to begin with. My understanding of Mortarion is that his position is meant to be kind of pathetic and ironic. This man was given hell just because Mortarion HATES psyker that MUCH. ![]() And for surviving that, his reward was to be sent to ISSTVAN III. ![]() His Librarius training was barely begun before Mortarion disbanded the Order, reassigned Morturg to the Destroyer Corps, given command of Legionaries judged to be fractious or unstable, and his units were tasked to the brunt of the worst fighting the Death Guard endured. (.)Captain Morturg, a reliable voice in matters of his Primarch, suggested hopefully that Mortarion would have experienced remorse in siding with Horus, wishing insted for the purer and heady days of the Great Crusade where he fought alongside his vaunted brother Ferrus Manus.Įdit: Some information regarding captain Crysos Morturg: He's an officer, later found out to be a latent psyker. It is possible, claimed Garro, that Mortarion could have had a hand in undermining the dark powers of the Ruinstorm while in his positions as the Warmaster's closest and most faithful ally. Later accounts by Captain Garro, formerly of the Death Guard, suggests that there surely must have been some internal struggle at the Death Lord's core, for by throwing in his lot with the Warmaster he had allied himself with all that the despised. (.) His estranged sons however, denying Mortarion could have fallen so far so fast, countinued to display a weary loyalty. Given Mortarion's vehement hatred of psykers, sorcerers and the arcane, it would appear to be contrary to his own interests to have joined Horus and the forces of the Ruinstorm in bringing disorder to the Imperium, let alone make use of such powers to further is hown ends.
